CLIENT: Philipe-Van Heusen Corporation
ROLE: Graphic Designer
COMPANY: Calibre Design Group
PROJECT BRIEF: Design the 2009 Annual Report for Phillips-Van Heusen. The company owns, designs, sources and markets a selection of world-renowned brands in the apparel industry, including menswear, sportswear, accessories and footwear. The objective was to design a low-key cover as the company suffered from the financial crisis of 2008 while at the same time communicating confidence that it will turn things around and become successful again. The inside design had to follow a look consistent with the design from the previous year and feel sexy and slick. There is also a corporate social responsibility section presented in this report that was rolled out in a digital collateral as well.
SOLUTION: The cover uses no photography as an effort not to glamorize this particular year, but opts for a classic matte black background instead. The typography on it is set in a glossy black finish with just the word "confident" in white. The inside spreads use sexy photography with clean and elegant typography and charts. The corporate social responsibility section is divided into 4 parts that are colour coded which is followed through on the website design.
